Our Aims

The broad aims of the Society are:

  • Foster and promote increased awareness of psychological, socio-cultural and ethical issues relevant to obstetrics, gynaecology and reproductive medicine.
  • Promote and facilitate sharing of scientific research into psychosocial aspects of obstetrics, gynaecology and reproductive medicine.
  • Increase sharing of clinical and practical knowledge relevant to improving the psychological health and well-being of women and their families, especially in obstetric and gynaecological settings.
  • Provide a forum for cross-fertilisation of ideas from practitioners and researchers from the broadest possible spectrum of relevant areas.

How We Differ

ASPOG is distinguished from similar professional bodies by its specific emphasis on the psychosocial and social aspects of health, and the provision of a network for exchange of ideas across the many relevant disciplines, such as medical, nursing and allied health professionals.

As a member of the International Society for Psychosomatic Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ASPOG keeps members up to date with international developments by facilitating exchange of information with sister societies in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North and South America and the Pacific Rim.
